Red Alert!

Finally, a colour trend that I can 100% get on board with. It was only a matter of time but the world of fashion has finally come to it’s senses and decided to grace us with RED as this season’s colour trend! Let’s be real, I wear red all year round because well, I’ll get into that in a minute…

If you didn’t know already, red is and will forever be my favourite colour. So when I started seeing it everywhere the melodramatic drama queen in me wanted to cry and rejoice to the fashion gods!

Red to me is such an expressive colour. It’s definitely not a colour that you want to be wearing if you’re looking to hide and shy away from the world. A piece of advice to all those wallflowers out there, red will literally be your saving grace for the upcoming party season. God knows that I can be shy as fuck, let’s not play dumb here. I’m good at it, so when you need that little boost in confidence, throw on that little red dress. You’ll get those unwanted stares but you know what, feel the awkwardness and ride with it!

I’ll often use red to make a statement. It’s that colour you associate with being bold and daring. Even if you aren’t, fuck it, let the colour do all the work for you and hope for the best! Whether it be a seductive red lip or red accents in your outfit, there’s always a way to incorporate red into a look.

Red will ALWAYS be my colour of choice, when I’m feeling uninspired and need to resurrect life back into an outfit. Sometimes I’ll have that dumb moment where I’ll put an outfit together, walk to the mirror and think to myself: What the fuck possessed you, when you thought that outfit looked good? We all have off days, okay?! I’ll admit, I’m ‘basic’ but when I’ve reached my maximum level of ‘basic’ (it’s honestly so tragic), my immediate reaction is always to find a statement piece to accessorise my outfit with.

For example would I ever wear a black bodycon dress on it’s own?

No, we can do better than that.

So here’s my take and nod towards the red colour trend. I was probably being quite tame here and probably could’ve gone further and you would’ve mistaken me for a red Crayola crayon but alas, I was in St Paul’s and had to keep my outfit somewhat tame amongst all the good looking men in suits! So this is what I came up with:

“Red is such an interesting color to correlate with emotion, because it’s on both ends of the spectrum. On one end you have happiness, falling in love, infatuation with someone, passion, all that. On the other end, you’ve got obsession, jealousy, danger, fear, anger and frustration. All those emotions — spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion, all of that — in my mind, all those emotions are red. You know, there’s nothing in between. There’s nothing beige about any of those feelings, it all comes back to me, and it’s red.

– Taylor Swift

I’m sure you’ve seen me absolutely exhaust these two Gucci pieces to death over the past year and I’m okay with that because I love them both! #SorryImNotSorry.

Black is always a great canvas for red so, tie your statement piece with your accessories to bring your look together.

What I hear a lot of the time is: Red doesn’t suit me….

Bitch please! There are a million shades of red out there, I’m sure we can find something for you, stop making excuses! Regardless of whether you’re looking to add some vibrancy to your outfits or make a statement, your outfit will scream volumes in this seasons colour trend if you’re not prepared to.

Lots of love,
