Girls in Suits: Part 2

To those of you out there who aren’t convinced by the suit trend, I thought I’d give you a second take on it. If you’ve had a look at my last post then you’ll notice that I kept my look more traditional despite trying to dress it down with a printed t-shirt. I mean if you thought my green suit was bright then I guess this one’s a bit of a shocker. When I got this suit in the post I thought to myself that there was no way that I would wear it out in public. I could just about muster the confidence to wear the green on out but this one? Let’s just say that I could’ve done with a shot of tequila for a little bit of liquid courage when I shot this look. Baring in mind that I tend to shoot my looks in advance, so right now I’m raving all about spring looks but darling, this was taken in winter. So yeah, I probably stood out to say the least.

In my last post I said that suits were versatile so obviously I had to swing this look in the opposite direction. Whoever said you can’t wear sneakers with suits lied, because I did. It may not be office appropriate but I think this look gives you a different take on your typical suit attire. Not every girl wants to be strutting around in a pair of heels, trust me! To all the girls out there who would pick comfort over style; who says you can’t have both? I guess this look brings the two all in one.

I know some people wouldn’t even dream of wearing sneakers with a suit but again this was me trying something new. My Gucci Ace sneakers were the perfect addition to the suit. As bright and over embellished as they are, to me it ties the whole look together. OBVIOUSLY where ever possible, I try to get something floral into my looks because you all probably know by no how much I LOVE to incorporate floral patterns into any outfit. This one wasn’t any different.

It may not be for everyone’s taste or personal style but I think sneakers make the suit more wearable. That’s obviously my personal opinion. If you know me well, you’ll know that I have a tendency to care about what other people think. If there’s any aspect of my life where I’m attempting to change that, it’s definitely in my personal style and the clothes I wear. I was recently told that I care too much about what people think and that I should stop worrying. It really is as simple as that. So here’s to me not giving a shit. I feel like that’s what statement suits epitomise. The power suit trend in is literally a nod to female empowerment and embracing your (dare I say it?), girl boss and being sassy as fuck.

So own it and run with it for spring/ summer 2018.

Lots of love,
